Description
This is a laser trap for low powered lasers. I stops the laser from reflecting back. I made it for an escape room where I didn't want the characteristic red spot from a laser beam to be visible where it hit a wall.
The thread on the screw is the standard 5/8"-27 mic stand thread. I designed this to fit on a stand I had previously published https://www.printables.com/model/80512-ceiling-microphone-mount
Instructions
Print all three parts. I would recommend using an organic support on the screw block to hold up the bottom of the screw thread. I used black PLA. Use a 0.15mm layer heigh or better to get the screw thread to form correctly. Glue the top to the bottom. The screw block attaches via an M3 countersunk screw about 8mm long - use it to cut a thread in the bottom block.
If you chose to mount it onto my ceiling mic mount, I would recommend that you find a metal mic stand (or adapter) and use it to clean up the printed thread before getting it to mate with the plastic thread on the mount.
If you want, you can pour in some matt black paint to reduce the residual reflection.
Warning - I designed this for use with low power eye-safe visible lasers only. Do not use it with any laser capable of heating up plastic. Do your own laser safety assessments first - I do not warrant this design in anyway.
