Description
This is a connection piece for a 10mm electric fence ribbon to protect your (greenhouse) plants from slugs.
You need:
You need to take care that there are two main conductors woven in the ribbon, one for the positive pole (+), one for the negative pole (-), see Fotos for details.
The voltage is connected to the two main conductors. As the two main conductors are isolated from each other, no current is flowing normally.
If a slug is crawling over the ribbon, it shorts the two conductors and a current is flowing through the slug hurting it. It will make the slug turn around and flee. With 12V, it will not kill the slug, just hinder it crossing the ribbon!
See this video to understand how it works:
With the electric fence ribbon and the 3d printed connection piece, it is much easier to make!
You may make a point at the end of the hex bolt to make it easier to go through the ribbon.
Take care that the conductor in the ribbon has connection to the bolts and that there is no short circuit between + and -.
I also attached the original Freecad files if you want to amend it to different ribbon widths.
