You want to use the IKEA smart blinds but have no chance to mount them by drilling holes? You could use KLAMBY to clamp them to your windows. But then the blinds will block your windows from opening. With this magnetic mount you can easily remove the blinds in case you want to open your window.
How many mounts do I need for one FYRTUR or KADRILJ? It depends on the lenght of your blind and your risk aversion … ;) I printed three mounts for my 60cm version. For me that's ok. For longer versions I'd probably go to four or more. Try it out and let other users know in the comments.
WHAT YOU NEED FOR ONE MOUNT
1 KLAMBY: IKEA sells them in a double pack für 5 Euros
2 Magnets, size 60x10x3 mm (1 Magnet is about 1 Euro at Amazon or ebay)
PRINTING
I recommend PETG, don't know if PLA is strong enough. I also dont't know if PLA is flexible enough to clip the part on your smart blind. So use PETG.
Layer height: 0.2 (0.3 should also work)
Infill: 15-25% (better safe than sorry ….)
No supports
Brim? Depends on your first layer adhesion. I printed on the textured sheet by Prusa and didn't need any brim.
Activate “detect thin walls” in PrusaSlicer and make sure that the thin verticals support layer is sliced correctly (see picture)
ASSEMBLY
Disassemble one KLAMBY. You only need the metal part and the screw
Remove the support layer
Insert the KLAMBY parts in your printed window part
Insert the magnets. Make sure that you insert them in the right orientation so they attract each other when mounted. Check twice! The parts are designed to hold the magnets without glueing. So you won't get the magnets out without destroying the printed parts!
Clamp the window mounts at your window. Check if the positions are right for your window and if its possible to mount the counterpart on your blind in this position.
Clip the IKEA parts to the back of your smart blind. Use some force at the top.
Ready to mount your FYRTUR or KADRILJ!
IMPORTANT!
Don't use this mount with small kids in your household! The smart blinds will come off when you pull on them. And they are quite heavy! I wouldn't want to explain the prosecutor how my kid got struck by my smart blind ….
When designing home automation rules also remember that the blind could not be mounted at the window all the time. You don't want want your blind roll off when laying besides the window …
