Description:
Here is the Christmas Gnome! This Christmas Gnome can be printed in either separate parts or as one piece. No supports required.
The Christmas Gnome can either be hanging in a Christmas tree by the top of the hat or can sit on the surface with other decorations.
To print in parts just insert the printable studs and slide the components into each other. No adhesive necessary! If you want to remake the gnome, the Solidworks files and assembly are also given.
You can also use the Christmas Gnome as a gift holder as the inside of the model is hollowed out.

Thoughts When Designing:
When designing the Christmas gnome the 3 features that were focused on are: no support, easy assembly, and versatility.
The gnome whether in pieces or as one was designed so that supports would not be required. To do this I focused on trying to include at least one flat face to each piece of the gnome while keeping its smooth and developing shape. However I did not want to take the nice geometry away from the components just to have no supports, so when uploading the nose of gnome I also uploaded one that would require supports but would create a better finish.
To allow for easy assembly for when the Christmas Gnome was printed in parts, I made sure that assembly did not require any adhesive or store bought items. This is an important area as some people would like to just print the files and not have to deal with going out and finding the required items. Therefore studs were implemented to attach each component. Since some components would of required supports if studs were part of it, I made the studs separate. The tolerance of the stud is a .1mm inner offset of the intake hole to allow easy installation and a tight fit to hold the components.
By allowing the entire gnome have multiple features, the gnome will be able to reach more people. Some people may not have a Christmas tree and having an ornament that only hangs will not be very decorative. Therefore I designed the gnome so that it can either be hanging or rest on top of a surface! At the same time I also made the inside of the ornament hollow so that it can be used as a gift holder.
