Magnetic Modular Embroidery Floss Color Swatches

These are tiny swatches of embroidery floss used in color planning. They are magnetic, each bobbin contains about a yard of floss permanently glued in place.

Labels were printed on a Silhouette Cameo 3, source files for labels can be found in the github repo: https://github.com/kellbot/dmc-swatch-bobbins.

Additional materials needed:

1/4" x 1/8" x 1/32" thick neodymium magnets (one for each color)

Super glue

DMC floss in various colors

Printing the bobbins on end yielded better prints but gave me trouble with bed adhesion so I ended up using a raft to help everything stay where it belongs.

Remove the raft, glue a magnet into the well, and let dry. Wrap floss around bobbin, and secure with a small amount of glue.
