The Legend of Christmas (Holidays 2023 Tree Ornament Challenge - Original Nativity Scene with Link, Zelda and Baby)

Lots of hours spent on this! Really happy with how it turned out.

You've probably seen this technique on pumpkin carving before, where you thin out the portions you want light to shine through, but you don't remove it entirely. This is printed thinner in certain portions to reveal more imagery when a light source is placed behind it. Kind of like a lithophane, but, with a lot more effort involved. :D

The shadowbox on the back is kind of outside the scope of the requirement, but, I've included it anyway; It has about 9 LEDs (its an LED strip) going around the triforce innards, powered by a 9-volt battery, which has a toggle on-off switch on the back. When guests come over, we light it up. (Guests. lol)

Really hoping this hits a chord with some folks that are celebrating this time of year, but also enjoy some gaming. I mean no disrespect, just a light parody for friends and family to enjoy this season. :)

How I Designed This

Step 1: Design an image in 2D first.

Step 2: 3D-ify it in 3D Builder (a free windows store app)

Step 3: Export from 3D Builder, and Import into Blender

Step 4: Do stuff to it, and print. 👍
