Description
I made this carousel to organize the myriad of small parts and fasteners I've accumulated on my workbench. It can either be wall mounted via a French Cleat or set on a workbench. It's compatible with 1xN gridfinity modules up to 4 units tall. You can leave off some carriages to fit taller modules if needed, just mind that the center of gravity of the carriage needs to stay below the carriage pivot axis.
The two wheels are connected together by 3x wheel_brace which are fastened together like hinges using filament as the hinge pin. If you have trouble fitting 1.75mm filament through the holes then your printer needs to be tuned (x, y, z, or e steps, flow rate, etc). This is a common problem, so I've included a wheel brace with oversized holes to use.
The model features two leaf springs that detent into the main wheels to hold the carousel in position. These can be left off for smoother rotating, but the heaviest side will always fall to the bottom if you do.
The two cleats can be connected together by two wooden dowel rods cut to 288mm length if desired. I've found if hanging off the French Cleat these aren't necessary, but if using on a benchtop or moved around a lot the dowels will help stabilize the structure.
Additional materials needed:
All parts will fit on an Ender3 or equivalent print bed. 10% infill and no support needed throughout.
All fasteners will thread directly into the plastic, no threaded inserts or post processing required.
