Laptop Monitor Arm Base Plate Mount

Please be extra careful when adjusting the tension on the monitor arm to suite the weight of your laptop/device so as not to be too weak that the laptop will fall, or too strong that it will eject the laptop to the moon.

With the disclaimer out of the way, this base plate mount turns a standard monitor arm into an elevated laptop stand. I couldn't find any laptop arms for cheap online, but cheap monitor arms are a plenty. This printed base plate converts the monitor arm into a laptop stand that's suitable for a 13" laptop weighing approximately 1.3kg. This may vary depending on the your specific monitor arm. You are welcome to explore the use of larger or more substantial laptops at your discretion; however, please be advised that I will not assume any responsibility for any potential risks, issues, or damages that may arise from this choice. 

Dimensions

• Depth (front edge to back edge): 200mm
• Width (left edge to right edge): 230mm
• Main Plate Thickness: 7mm
• Front Lip Height: 10.4mm from the top of the main plate surface
• Mounting: 100mm x 100mm

Required Hardware

• Suitable monitor arm where the mounting point can tilt backwards at 60 degrees and still have room for the laptop base to clear the articulated arm - see photos.
• 4 units of m5 x 10mm screws (make sure the screw head is not higher/thicker than 4mm, otherwise it could scratch the bottom of the laptop)
• 4 units of m5 nylock nuts (standard nuts probably okay as well, but nylock ensures they won't go anywhere)
• Optional: 4 units m5 washers (you could print your own if need be)
• Optional: 4 units (or 1 big sheet) of self adhesive rubber to prevent laptop from slipping off

Suggested Print Settings

• Layer Height: 0.2mm
• Infill: 80% Grid (or your prefered “solid” infill for maximum strength)
• Perimeters: 3
