Description

This is a design/remix I made for the Nextruder cover including logos of the Original Prusa MK4/S, having as a base the Original Prusa design for the R3 cover here, you're able to print the part in multiple colors without an MMU, as the 3MF attached is set to make M600 manual color changes between the different features/bodies (about 8 manual color changes :D). Some additional notes about the model you should read before printing:

  • If you do have an MMU, you're free to change the printer type and ignore the custom settings of the 3MF - Defaults will work for you :)

  • Part should be printed with PETG, If a filament mismatch warning shows when starting the print, just ignore it/continue the print, as this warning is prompted due to the Gcode using in theory 4 extruders/colors while not having an MMU/just 1 nozzle/toolhead

  • The MK4S cover is only useful if you did the upgrade from MK4 to MK4S and still have the original MK4 cover, as the MK4S printable PG cover uses the Spacer 13x24x2,5 (plastic ring), Step 15 from the assembly guide here https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/5-nextruder-assembly_434014#437006

  • In the 3MF attached, there's an STEP file for the circular drawings in the cover having a thickness of 0.4mm, and another STEP file for 0.8mm thickness, so that you can decide whether you want to print them with a single or double perimeter extrusion using a 0.4mm nozzle (or no circular drawings at all)

  • I did not upload the Gcode files as nowadays you could be printing in the MK4 or MK4S, using the standard nozzle or the HF one, which would end up in about 24 different Gcode Files :D Instead, I've uploaded 4 3MF files, set exactly for these variants so that you choose the one that matches your machine (MK4, MK4 HF, MK4S, MK4S HF), and then you can just delete any part you're not going to print :) The HF 3MF's have an increased purging in the wipe tower, as naturally, the HF nozzle requires more purging to prevent color bleeding in multicolor prints

  • Gray was assigned to circles and “ORIGINAL” label, White for “PRUSA” label. Orange for “MK4”/"MK4S" label, and Black for the rest of the cover, you may change this color assignation with the provided 3MF to each of the bodies if you want to :D

  • Color changes/loading should go as follows: Gray → White → Orange → Black →Gray → White → Orange → Black, the logo has 2 layers/0.3mm in thickness so that aesthetically colors are more solid (You can check the slicer preview for the first 2 layers to swipe between printed lines and understand more the order of colors through the print). Just before starting to extrude the first layer, it will ask you to reload the Gray :)

  • A purge tower as it was the MMU is necessary to prevent color debris/shading/blobs in the print, you'll be printing multicolor as if you had an MMU, but without one :D

  • If you're going to import the STEP files to the slicer/not use the prepared 3MF's, you should split the design into parts right-clicking it to be able to separate the different bodies and assign colors to each of them. Colors should be assigned by picking an Extruder number for each part in the list, not actually Multimaterial painting them :)
