Description
Here is an MK4 cooling fan shroud designed to help keep your cooling fan clean.
(VH fans, see challenge below)
You can use it as;
1. a shroud by itself
2. a shroud with a grill
3. a shroud with the grill and a filter media installed like a carbon mesh. (The carbon mesh will be placed in front of the grill, not between the grill and the fan blades.)
The grill is located slightly away from the fan to reduce noise.
The grill is printed separately and installed in the fan shroud after printing. You have 3 choices for the grill, you can use the honeycomb or the spiral grill provided. We also included a step file of a blank grill that you can use to design your own grill pattern. You can also use it as a template to cut out the carbon mesh. When printing the grill, make sure the 3 dots are facing up. When you install the grill, make sure the dots are facing down or towards the Nextruder and fan. There is a locking tab on the inside of the shroud to hold the grill in place. Use your thumb to carefully press it in place.
Finally, if you are not planning on using any filter media, like the carbon mesh, you can carefully snap off the top of the shroud at the 3D printed seam lines to reduce weight and increase air flow into the fan.
Print a few of these to customize your MK4 printer for different materials. If this works for you, please give it a like or even post a make. -enjoy
