Description

Glacier Gauntlet: Milo's Challenge is an original (I'm aware this game exists in other forms), fully 3D-printable game, inspired by a personal story. This game has been crafted for easy printing without the need for support, suitable for 3D printing enthusiasts of all skill levels. Players have the option to print in either multiple materials.

Key Features

  • Original 3D-Printable Design: Expertly crafted for FDM/FFF printing, support-free.
  • Material Options: Compatible with both multi-material and single-material printing.
  • Dynamic Tension Mechanism: Incorporates built-in springs to hold the ice blocks in tension.
  • Rooted in a Real-Life Event: The game draws inspiration from a significant incident involving my 9-year-old Milo.

The Story Behind the Game

The genesis of Glacier Gauntlet: Milo's Challenge lies in a life-changing event for Milo, who narrowly escaped danger on a frozen lake. Curiosity led Milo to a stick emerging from the ice, which unfortunately marked a large, thinly-covered fishing hole. Milo fell through but managed to keep from fully submerging by holding onto the ice. A brisk walk back to the car followed, with Milo safe but shaken.

This incident was a turning point. It initially left Milo rattled, but it became a catalyst for resilience and recovery. We collaborated to create this game, helping Milo to process and move past the trauma. This game symbolizes a journey from a frightening experience to a celebration of overcoming and growth.

Glacier Gauntlet: Milo's Challenge is more than a game; it's a story of facing fears, embracing challenges, and the power of collaborative healing.

How to play! (1+ players)

Setup

  • Collect frame, pick, 6 legs, 30 standard blocks, and 1 center block.
  • Place the frame on a flat surface, ice side up.
  • Fit the 31 ice pieces in the frame. They are a snug fit, this is so they can stay suspended in tension during play.
  • Place the cute penguin in the center block.
  • Attach the legs to the frame.

Play

  • Take turns using the hammer to hit out single ice blocks, once a block falls, a turn ends when at least one block falls.
  • The person who causes the character to fall loses.
  • Reset and play again.
