Description
Use: This trim clip should fit many Toyota vehicles to secure trim panels to a structural part of the vehicle. In my application(2007 Tundra) the clips are used to secure the front fender liner to the bumper.
Design: This clip was designed to closely replicate the OEM part but optimized for 3D printing. The clip is slightly shorter than the OEM part but that does not impact function.
Print settings:
Material: Nylon is the best material for this part as some flex is required for the retention tabs to lock into place. Print orientation is less impacted if printing with Nylon. Similar materials to Nylon are also options.
Print Orientation:
Circular head perpendicular to the print bed provides the best layer orientation for strength in the retention tabs but visual appearance is lower. Nylon and PETG both worked in this orientation.
Circular head flat on the print bed provides the best visual appearance but the stress from the retention tabs bending can cause layer split. Good layer adhesion is required for this orientation. Nylon worked good in this orientation but PETG had layer split at the base of the retention tab.
