What's this?

The FreeCAD file does the following for you:

• Creates a two-part spool which you can easily print and press-fit together
• creates a clip in which you can snap-in your spool.

If you don't need the spool OR the clamp, just don't export these for printing.

How to generate your spool/clamp

1. open the file in FreeCAD 0.19 Link Branch (also try opening it in the official FreeCAD, should work, too!)
2. click on the Dimensions spreadsheet in the feature tree
3. add your dimensions
4. click on “Clamp” in the feature tree
5. file has been modified to your input

How to export your spool/clamp for printing

1. click on the part in the feature tree, for example “Clamp”
2. hit CTRL+E
3. choose the file format
4. import in your Slicer software
5. print

Provided files

I do like to have real CAD-files, when downloading things from others. Most users don't provide files other than .STL-files. These are useless for further manipulation or quick changes. So I'll provide the following files to you:

Yes, but you need to know how to solder! For further assembly instructions see the Assembly section down below!

What do I need other than the printed parts?

• small piece of tape to fixate the start of the wire to the spool

Print Settings

Here are some general guidelines on how to print this thing.

Print orientation: 

Rafts: Not necessary

Supports: Not necessary

Resolution: 0.2 … 0.3

Infill: 100%

Filament: PETG, ABS, ASA. PLA might work, but also might be too brittle

Assembly

Press the spools lid onto the spool body. Add a drop of glue if you like to make it really permanent!
