HomeKit controllable LED light #1. Really simple to print and to setup. =)

This lamp can be directly added to Apple HomeKit and controlled then via Siri and the Apple HomeKit app too. You do not need an additional bridge so it will be shown as any RGB light in HomeKit. You can control color as well as brightness and temperature of the light too. Automations, scenes and all the usual HomeKit stuff are possible as well.

Idea for smart home users: Because you can integrate the lamp into scenes and automations you can use colours to notify or remember you on events… If you have some clever ideas, I would be interested to get to know them. =)

It is a really bright lamp because it uses 64 LEDs of an 8x8 LED panel.

Here are some pictures:

Hardware used:

• 1x Node MCU V3 ESP32
• 1x LED matrix 8x8 (Please use this one. Others might not fit to the case!)
• 1x 5V / 4A power supply (!!! 4A is mandatory !!! The matrix alone uses 3,3A)
• Some 0,50mm² wires 
• 3x Soldering cable shoes M3
• 6x M3x8 screws
• 2x M3x20 screws
• 3x M3 nuts
• 2x small cable ties to fix the power supply cable in place
• Some electronics tape to secure the ESP32 inside the case from the LED contacts
• Some shrink tubes to isolate the cables within the box 

Wiring instructions:

Software:

• The code can be found in my GitHub repository.
• Tested with an “NodeMCU ESP32” as “NodeMCU-32S” in Arduino IDE.
• ESP8266 can not be used, because they are too weak.

Setup:

• Within the code you will find a settings section where you need to enter:
  • Your WiFi credentials
  • The connection code you want to use during setup in HomeKit
  • The name of the added bridge as default in HomeKit (can be changed during setup)
  • The name of the device as default in HomeKit (can be changed during setup)
• The entered WiFi credentials will add the new device to your network.
• In the Apple HomeKit app just use the "+" symbol and then add the device by entering the in the code set connection code.
• The to set names can be change during the add too. A new bridge and the light will be added.

Printing instructions:

• 0.3 draft profile used
• No supports needed
• No brim needed
• The “Lid” part was printed with 100% infill because it acts as a diffusor
