Description

Maybe you like the Original Clickfinity Refined but think it uses too much filament, or maybe you were just looking at different Gridfinity baseplates and found this. Either way, this might be what you are looking for.

Clickfinity Refined by was created by combining a couple of great variations of the original Gridfinity baseplates into one model, resulting in baseplates that secures bins without magnets and can snap together with connectors to fill any open space you have. these baseplates retain that functionality while needing significantly less filament and print time.

You can use anything made for Gridfinity with these plates. I cut the original down down to just what was needed to hold shape and preserve functionality.

PROS:

  • Secures bins as well as the original design
  • 25% reduction in filament use
  • 20% saving on print time

CONS:

  • No cool baseplate holders or trim pieces (yet)
  • Connectors are a bit hard to manipulate if you have sausage fingers
  • Very thin sections where the connectors are used (this is very noticeable on the corners, where there are only 2 1mm thick sections attaching each corner)

The connectors needed a full 2mm thickness to securely hold the sections together, which left only an 1mm thick area below it. I initially just extruded the bottom by 1mm to make it a little beefier, but that cut the filament savings down to only 11%, pretty much defeating the purpose. They still are sturdy enough, but if you want to reduce flex you can use something like Tinkercad to combine single blocks to get rid of gaps.

Huge shoutout to pnewb for making a parametric version and graciously offering to let me host it here!

As with original Clickfinity Refined, don't print these in PLA; not only will the snap holders deform with time and use, your corners can easily break off. PETG works great, and the flex keeps the corners intact.
