Hang heavy equipment on your Honeycomb Storage Wall with this inserts. The insert can withstand forces up to 15 kg and does not detach from the HSW.
I have made two variants, M4 and M5.
Update:
- 04.03.2024 nut M3 added, can only be locked from the back.
Test Setup for force determination:
Parts needed for one Insert
- Insert lockable M4 or M5
- Nut with hexagon socket or slot
Print Settings:
- I used PETG, (recommended)
- 0,2mm layer heigt
- 0,4mm nozzle
- 15% infill
- 2 Perimeter
- no supports needed
Assembly Notes:
Note: The Allen key may fit very tightly into the "nut with hexagon socket". Please try it out before fitting the "Lockable Insert".
Take the empty insert:
Insert the nut M4 or M5:
Insert the Nut with hexagon socket:
Insert the pre-assembled Lockable Insert into the HSW:
Use the correct hexagon socket wrench:
Slide the Allen key into the nut:
and lock the insert with a 30 degree turn of the nut.
Enjoy:
Note:
- Use the nut with slot and a screwdriver if the nut with hexagon socket is getting round.
- The maximum force depends on quality and accuracy of your print, your printer, the used material, load type and all possible tolerances. Also on your Honeycomb Storage Wall.
- If the force is exceeded once and the insert has been torn out, the force of 15 kg can no longer be reached. However, the insert should still be functional.
- You always need the exact screw length so that the screw does not protrude more than 1 mm beyond the nut. Otherwise the insert cannot be locked properly. If the insert can also be locked from the rear, then the nut with the 3 mm hexagon socket can also be used for the M4 insert. This means that longer screws can also be used.
