This is my test version (v0.4) of the mount for the Orbiter 2.0 on “The 100 v1.1”. I needed a better extruder than the BMG clone, so I'm using this to mount my Orbiter. This mounts in the same place as the original BOM extruder. I'll edit this description and link to the v1.0 when I release it. Please leave a comment with any feedback, good or bad, to improve this design.
BOM
- 5 ea. M3x8 SHCS
- 2 ea. M3x14 SHCS
- 1 ea. PC4-M10 pneumatic fitting
Tools
- 2.5 mm hex key
- Ratchet with 10mm socket and extension (bonus for using a deep socket)
Print settings:
- 0.2 layer height (0.3 first layer)
- 0.5 width
- ironing “all top surfaces” (optional)
- 5 walls
- 5 top
- 5 bottom
- 20% infill (I used cubic)
- no supports
Instructions
- Print the bracket
- Using the 10mm socket and ratchet, squarely drive the PC4-M10 fitting into the round hole that has a diameter of 10mm until it is firmly tightened. Careful to not strip it.
- Using the 2.5 mm hex key, mount the bracket to the extruder mounting point on the top-back of the printer with 5 ea. of the M3x8 screws. Don't use the hole that's now blocked by the PC4-M10 fitting (top center). Don't strip the heatset inserts.
- Using the 2.5 mm hex key, mount the extruder (Orbiter 2.0) to the bracket using 2 ea. M3x14 screws. Don't strip the holes.
Happy printing!
