Description

Designed to hold those cheap square shaped 120ml sized spice jars (from china).

Presenting them diagonally allows for a much clearer overview from various angles and better readability! Although it does take a little bit more space than the conventional way.

These models can be combined to create longer rows or cut in slicer to create shorter ones. (i could render certain length if requested)

HOW TO USE:

It is both possible to
  • Screw them into the wall or
  • use a double sided sticky tape
    • however, be sure to have a very strong tape as mine (regular thin one) didn't hold longer than 3 days with full jars even with larger area models.
    • I have since then discovered stronger tapes but already screwed the rack in place. Screwing them gives me a more secure felling too.
FIT OF THE GLASS JARS:

As it turned out, these cheap glass jars are not all made equal!

Make sure you test and choose those that fit to your liking!

  • The dimensions of all of them are all over the place. Some are smaller, some are larger. Some are not even square and fit better turned one way than the other.
  • In my case the jars have a number on the bottom which seems to specify which mold they come from. Mine have labels 1 2 3 and 8.
    • 1 and 2 are the smallest and most precise, they fit it in rack perfectly as i designed it for them.
    • 3 is slightly larger in one dimension, making the fit tighter in that direction although not tight enough that it ruins the experience.
    • 8 is noticeably larger in all directions and less precise, making it a very tight fit which requires more attention when placing and taking the jar off the rack. I am a perfectionist, some people might not even notice this small difference to be honest.
    • I decided to use mainly 1 and 2 jars with a few 3 and separated all 8s to use without a rack.

HOW TO PRINT:

All walls are slim so infill will likely make no difference.

Printing in 0.3 mm layer height is no problem and makes it faster.

It is a large thin print, make sure your bed adhesion is good.
If you print in ABS, make sure to properly preheat your chamber, warping could be an issue.

I bought my jars here, delivery took forever though.
