Purpose

This is a foldable hook that you can carry in your purse, designed to hook it on the table when you are outside, and you don't want to put it on the ground.

Too many times restaurant chairs aren't able to keep the purse on, so I came up with this solution.

It's foldable design provide a sleek shilhouette, that can easily fit into a small purse.

It features a magnetic closing mechanism, in order to prevent it from opening inside your purse.

.STP file is also available for customization.

Parts List:

 PartQuantity
m4x30 bolt2
m4 nuts2
m3x20 bolt1
d6 x h2 magnets4

The magnets aren't strictly necessary for the hook to work, but are highy recommended to prevent it from opening inside your purse.

Assembly instructions:

  1. Insert Lever3 into Lever2 as shown, and fix it using the m3x20 bolt. No nut is needed, just self-tap the screw into plastic. DO NOT OVERTIGHT
The bolt should be flush with the plastic by both ends.

  2. Insert the magnets into every pockets. Pay attention to the polarity! The two magnets into the Lever1 pocket should be attracting each other, as well as the ones into the body parts. The magnets will provide a closing force once the hook is folded.

  3. Insert the Lever1 and the Lever2-3 assembly between the two body halfs as shown

  4. Lock everything in place using the two m4x30 bolts and the M4 nuts. DO NOT OVERTIGHT

  5. Everything should be good. Tune the two m4 bolts for smooth lever swinging. Magnets should keep the device closed. If not, you will need to disassemble it and flip one pair of magnets.

The magnets can be disassembled easily, so that they can be reused for other projects if needed.

Printing instructions:

  • Enable Tree supports for the Lever2. Every other part should come as is.
  • Be generous with perimeters, expecially if you have a moderately heavy purse.
    I used 4 (with 0.4mm nozzle).

Known issues:

  • The lever 1 should have a rubbery surface in order to have a better grip on the table.

Bonus fun:

Challenge your diners on what this gadget is, before putting it in place at the edge of the table.
