Description
This XYZ calibration cube is designed to expose:
1.Ringing & Ghosting. The curved side changes, so you can see if the sharp corner introduces ringing or Ghosting on each face. If results are consistent all the way up the face then you are well tuned. If there are bands and it is much better where the corner is round, then tune more.
2. 30 degree overhangs. Pretty much every printer should be able to do these with ease. The added twist here with multi is the thin wall outer shell. (tune retractions, and seam issues).
3. Nozzle Boogers. WIth multi there are a lot of things that can cause boogers or strings on multi prints. In particular I see a huge improvement with ramping travel moves. The “bad cube” pictures vs. the “good cubes" are mainly due to ramping travel moves in the new firmware for XL.
4. Retractions. Poor Retraction settings can show up as boogers, seam problems, voids, gaps, etc… This print helps to expose some of them. Look at the “V” of the negative X and Y's. Look at the overhangs. That is one of the places where you may find issues with retractions, and with seams.
5. Seams. Oh the seams you'll see (if things are bad). Take a close look at that bad cube image.. Lots of bad seams.
6. And of course Dimensional accuracy… X, Y, & Z are 20mm.
