Description
Well, after several years, I have decided to redo this model and add more markers! There is now a version 2 of the directional marker. This version has a more rounded tip, is more aesthetic, and has larger holes on the bottom to fit brass snap bolts. I will leave version 1 up for those that prefer it. I have also created square, circle, and rectangle markers as well. They have the same size holes and channels all around, including the brass snap bolt holes for a very consistent look and feel.
Leave any requests for updates in the comments, I will consider them all. I also want to thank everyone who posted their makes! This was the first model I ever designed myself and you all have made me very happy.
Printing:
Printed with a Prusa Mini+ with default PLA settings other than 100% infill at .2mm. The difference in print time between 15% infill and 100% infill is negligible, just print at 100%.
WARNING:
I printed in black for photos so they would have good contrast. You should print in a color that is visible at depth and in low light such as white, yellow, or orange. PLA also gets brittle when exposed to the elements, including sunlight. It would be best to print this in PETG or some other material instead. The less infill used, the larger the volume of gas inside the marker will be. We know as divers that anything with a volume of gas will experience stress as you descend and ascend. Keep this in mind when deciding what infill you want to use. PETG will also help with this as it yields quite a lot before failure and will handle the stress a lot better than PLA, ABS, or ASA.
