Description

This adapter allows you to use cheap AliExpress / Temu aluminum replica shifter knobs with a Fanatec ClubSport SQ V 1.5 Shifter.

I made this model to fix a specific issue I had with similar models I found on Printables and elsewhere: the outer thread that interfaces with the metal knob is often way too loose. This means that while it works when fully tightened, as soon as you want to take the knob off (for example, to replace a long sequential shifter knob with a short round one for manual cars), the adapter stays on the shifter rod instead of coming out with the knob, which is a pain especially if you need a tool to remove it from the shifter afterwards.

Features

  • The outer threads are modelled with super tight tolerances so that once it's screwed in, it stays there.
  • There is a provided “screwdriver tool” that makes it easy to screw in the adapter (whose tolerances are way too tight to screw in by hand), with the help of a crescent wrench or similar. See instructions below.
  • The inner threads offer some resistance but not too much so that it's easy to unscrew when you want to take the knob off.

Customization Instructions

The Fusion 360 source file is provided so that you can tweak the tolerances if required for your specific knob.

  • inner_thread_offset : Higher values make the inner thread tighter.
  • outer_thread_offset : Higher values make the outer thread tighter. Lower this if the adapter cannot be screwed in, or make it bigger if there is slack (unlikely!)

Printing Instructions

The provided 3mf is pre-configured with the following settings:

  • Print with more perimeters for sturdiness. I used 4 for mine.
  • Print the screwdriver tool with 100% infill to avoid it getting crushed by the torque when screwing the adapter in.
  • I suggest printing in PLA for rigidity.

Installation Instructions

Simply insert the screwdriver tool in the slot at the bottom of the adapter and use a tool such as a crescent wrench to screw it in. Make sure to hold the wrench as close to the base of the tool as possible to avoid snapping it.
