Description

Designed to be printed on a build plate 256mmx256mm or bigger (I print on a p1p). You need a set of pliers to pull the strap through the slot in the buckle THIS IS DIFFICULT BUT IT DOES FIT. Tight fit really locks the buckle in place.

 

The TPU use gets a lot stiffer in the cold and makes these a lot less stretchy. I think a lower shore value material could maybe help prevent this. I also added new updated straps that have more adjustment holes so that the strap doesn't need to stretch as much which should also help.

eSUN TPE-83A seems to work better in the cold. Hard to say if this is just because its a lower shore hardness or because TPE generally has better stretch in the cold.

 

Strap is 18mm wide.

 

You can quickly hit the strap with a heat gun on a flat surface to take out the curves from the print orientation.

 

2/15/24: Decreased spacing between holes to make the straps much more usable in real life, gives more adjustment options.

2/22/24: Tuned hole spacing. There is now 10mm center to center between each hole. Should be a good balance of strength and adjustability. 

 

HOW TO USE
With buckle's raised angle sides facing inwards, feed the tail of the strap through the buckle. These keep the buckle off the face of the ski (similar to how normal ski traps metal buckle is bent upwards). Pull on the end of the strap until its tight. 

Buckle:

  1. PLA works fine so far, but should probably print in nylon or something more impact resistant. 
  2. Print with tree supports ON
  3. Print with a bunch of walls to the part is solid

 

Strap:

  1.  83a TPE, .2 layer height, Print Solid
  2. Straps intentionally print on their side to allow for longer straps to be made. This works totally fine with TPU because it has such good adhesion to textured pei.
