Description
I present to you a simple chain cover I designed for the cheap chinese 6" electric chainsaw (the one with DC brushed motor), but it may fit to other types too.
It's designed to be printed as a vase mode, so it's a solid object. It's printed on the base, so there will always be a small hole on the top, but I don't think it's a big issue. Printing with 0.8mm line width make's it quite robust and uses only 16g of material. I was printing on 0.4mm nozzle, it's not a problem if printed slow enough.
My printing settings:
-0.8mm line width (this is important, as it affects the fit of the part),
-Layer size: I used adaptive layers, and it printed the bottom layers with 0.28mm and top round part with 0.12mm. This way it looks better and the hole on the top is smaller,
-0 bottom layers,
-vase mode (spiralize outside contour),
-brim if needed.
PETG seems to me as the best material candidate for this application. I used Sunlu and it worked great.
Enjoy!
