MK6 MK6.5 2011-2018 VW Jetta Manual Shift Knob Adapter

Want a manual style shift knob in your automatic mk6 or mk6.5 VW? Look no further!

Shift knob adapter for automatic style transmissions to adapt a different, or in my case, more comfortable shift knob. Simply pull the shift knob vertically and back, or forward, to the desired transmission position. Works in ‘manual' shifting mode too! Shift knob adapter, and sample shift knob files are included! Will work with many readily available shift knobs!

Hardware;

                  10-32 x 0.625", Qty. 1 (Cut to length as needed) - M3 equivalent will also work.

                  Zip tie or equivalent, Qty. 1

                  Recommended - If needed, add a drop of lithium dioxide (grease) to the inside bore                     of the shifter adapter. This can prevent any possible binding of vertical motion of the                   adapter.

Installation;

To install, first take off the factory shift knob with button. This process can be found online and consists of popping off the side panels and carefully pulling off the OEM shifter knob. Once removed, slide the Shifter Adapter down over the Transmission Stem. The Hole in the adapter should line up with the Oval Slot in the Transmission Stem Pull Bar. Then, screw in supplied bolt. If cut to length properly, the bolt should end flush with the circumference of the adapter. If the bolt sticks past the adapter your shift knob may not thread on properly! Once bolted on, the Adapter should pull vertically with slight resistance, then be pulled back down by the Transmission Center Stem, add silicone dioxide as needed! Once install, add your shift knob! Use a zip tie or similar to secure the shift boot to the adapter. The zip tie should sinch down just above the ‘lip’ on the bottom of the model.

Usage;

To shift the transmission, pull up vertically on the shift knob or shift knob adapter. This will overcome the internal stem lock that the OEM button depressed. While pulling up, pull or push the shift knob or adapter to the desired PRND+S position. Happy Driving!

Notes;

Print in ABS or similar/better impact resistant material at 100% infill and layer height ≤150 microns. Showcase model was printed with ABS at 260℃ @ 50 microns. Happy Shifting!

This adapter was made for shift knobs that have an internal bore that are cut past the thread depth. This is needed as the adapter must have room for the Transmission Stem internally for attachment. Please note this is an aftermarket adaptation or modification. I have run this setup over 2 years during testing and have used it in both sport and manual applications for testing.
