Description

After installing my MMU3 I quickly came to the conclusion that an easy way to disconnect things would be beneficial. I came up with this 5 port PTFE tube connector to make that job easier. 

This model consists of two sides providing quick keying and alignment of the connector. You will also need six (6) - 10mm x 3mm neodymium rare earth magnets to complete this model. 

Begin by printing both halves of the connector using the settings shown below. Press fit the magnets into the provided holes in the connector halves. You may need to place a drop of CA glue if needed to hold the magnets in place. I found that by leaving the magnets “stuck” together, it's easy to maintain the N-S pole alignment of the magnets. Simply slide the remaining magnets off the last inserted one. When you add the remaining magnets to the mating half of the connector, use the same technique to make sure you have the alignment of the magnets correct. 

When done inserting the magnets, the connector should snap together and automatically to align all 5 PTFE tubes.

Note:

  1. The connector halves should only fit together in one direction because of the alignment pins printed in the model.
  2. Be sure to clean out the filament holes on the connector to prevent it from binding in the connector.
  3. Make sure that the magnets are seated flush with the surface of the connector half.

Select where you wish to place the connector and cut all 5 PTFE tubes using a razor knife. Insert the two tubes into one of the ports on the connector and repeat for the remaining tubes.

Here are the settings that I used:

   .20 mm layer height
   .4 mm nozzle
   40% infill
   Rafts: No
   Supports: No
   4 Layers top and bottom

I used PLA, but there is no reason why whatever filament you happen to be using wouldn't work.
