Rock Light Magnet Adapter

When researching rock lights, LUX lighting came up time and time again. One of the main points for it was ease of installation (utilizing magnets to mount). Since I wanted lighting but didn't want to spend LUX levels of money on it, I bought some cheaper rock lights and printed an adapter to add my own magnets to it.

I settled on ones from LEDMIRCY. What I liked about these were they were in a metal enclosure and appeared relatively well sealed. Additionally, the harness with them already had a relay I could utilize and all the cabling for the lights to the harness were plug and play (didn't want to deal with a building a harness for this many lights). They also sell a pack of 5 ft extensions, which I did need for two of my 11 lights.

There are two versions of this adapter. Most of my lights were fine using the standard one. However, due to consistencies where the cable exits the light, I have a second model with more space for the cable.

In one of the photos you can see the locknut up close. I didn't have any socket that was thin enough to tighten the locknut in the rock light housing, so I used washers (5) to raise it up high enough so that I could tighten it down.

Also, be careful tightening. If you tighten too much you can break the magnet.

I have links for the lights and magnets but not the screws/locknuts/washers. Those I already had lying around but I'm sure you can find some on amazon or at a local hardware store.

• M3x20mm countersunk head screws (2 per light)
• Washers (10 per light, used to raise the locknut enough to actually screw it down)
• Nylon locknut (2 per light). Alternatively, you could probably use Loctite + a regular nut.
