Mod Pot (Modular Aeroponics Grow System)

A 3d printed modular Aeroponics System I've been developing over four years. It has many benefits:

• Specifically designed to be 3D printed. All parts are designed to fit within the volume of a Prusa MK3 printer or larger
• Allows for direct seeding in the system
• Clones plants with ease directly in the system
• Uses up to 90% less water compared to traditional methods
• Allows for oxygen to hit the suspended roots to supercharge the growth
• Modular design allows for plants both big and small
• Access doors allow you to trim or inspect roots easily
• Multiple mounts/drainage options
• Easy maintenance with a quick swap nozzle design
• Makes aeroponics a much more accessible grow option

Aeroponics is a relatively unexplored grow method that has the potential to solve a lot of the worlds issues. This design is for people who want to “supercharge” their growing while using up to 90% less water compared to conventional grow methods.

This setup will work for an indoor setting or outdoor and you can use any liquid nutrient solution. Expect to shave at LEAST 30% off regular outdoor grow times with a significant increase in yield. The roots will get big fast so choose the plant according to the size. I've included some pdf drawings detailing my recommended configurations for both tomato &  strawberry sized plants.

It is possible to pair multiple setups off of a single pump. However as you add more setups you may need to increase the size of your pump. It is also theoretically possible to grow potatoes inside this machine and then pick them like apples off of a tree.

I strongly believe in the benefits of the merger of additive manufacturing with agriculture. It can bring new more efficient grow techniques to the most remote communities on this planet and the next. With your support I hope to continue my work into the distant future.

Print Tips

• I recommend printing all parts with PETG filament
• Get speeder prints with 6mm nozzle on the MK4. All items print well with that nozzle except for the basin with a drain and spray nozzles. Use 4mm for those.
• The only required supports are for the nozzles and the basin as you must support the pipe connection points. Every other part is designed to be printed with no supports. Brim is recommended.
• For outdoor use, I recommend you print with dark filament and paint with light paint to help keep the roots dark and cool.
