Description

I spent a significant amount of time searching for the best case for my Raspberry Pi 2 W and Camera Module 3 autofocus to stream my 3D printer.

All the models I found had their disadvantages, so I chose one to remix and polished it.

  • Dimensions were adjusted to fit the newer (and larger) camera series of Raspberry.
  • The camera sits in a way that protects the lens at all times.
  • Redesigned the front hole and added a modern look to match my 3D printer and enclosure.
  • Modified the back to add ventilation to the most critical components while maintaining a stylish model.
  • ***Update: There are two versions of the back cover. The LED version features a port for a direct view of the status LED, while the standard version conceals the bright LED.

I found this old model (2017) that was compact enough but had enough room so you don't have to worry about ventilation or the ribbon cable getting damaged. Inserting and removing the Raspberry Pi is a hassle-free process.

The only thing I didn't love was the fact that you need to use specific screws, but Lowe's, Home Depot and Amazon has them. It pays off to know that if the case falls off the table, the electronic components won't fall out of the case (in my book, cheap insurance).

I mainly use this setup on a mini tripod, but I decided to retain the wall mount hole for versatility.

I hope you like it. If there is anything you would like me to change or improve, let me know. I will be happy to do it.

::::::HARDWARE::::::

(8) 2-56 x 1/4" screws,  (Camera & Raspberry board)

(4) 2-56" x 1/8" screws, (Rear Cover)

***Alternative: (12) M2 x 4mm  (minimun length)

 1/4-20 nut, (to mount it in a Tripod)

Note: For a semi-permanent installation, if you don't have screws, you can use hot silicone. Just be careful not to apply silicone directly on the components to facilitate easier removal.

::::::Raspberry board to camera cable::::::

Flexible Ribbon Cable length of 150mm
