Description
Here is a parametric magazine holder model. This will let you create magazine holders that match your specific needs and have a unified presentation. Remixes/makes are encouraged, but please post the settings you used for the parameters to help others. This can't cover 100% of magazines since geometries are all over the place, but it can get you 90% there on the weird ones (G3c, TP9, probably others). Glock mags are another example of wild geometries for the same mags. If unsure, set the slots low and churn out some test prints while you play with settings.
To get started, you will need the following parameters:
| PlateDepth | Measurement front to back of the base plate |
| PlateWidth | Measurement from side to side of the base plate |
| PlateHeight | Height of the base plate or how much you want recessed into the holder (1 or 2 mm of a pmag can look nice sitting proud of the arm) |
| BodyWidth | Measurement from side to side of the mag body |
| Angle | Angle of the base plate relative to the mag body |
| FrontRadius | Radius of the front shoulder of the base plate |
| RearRadius | Radius of the rear shoulder of the base plate |
| Slots | How many mags you want to store |
Angle can be found with a digital angle finder or with a bubble level app that can take relative measurements. Radius is easily found with any of the millions of fillet gauges available here on printables. Both tools are very handy to have in your toolkit.
Additionally, there are other options for customization:
| Tolerance | Set this higher if you don't trust your calipers/printer |
| StartDepth | Initial offset from the wall |
| StartHeight | Initial height. Increase this if your mags are levering the holder out of the wall. |
| LabelSlots | How many slots should the label span |
| TextHeight | Quick access to change the text size in case it wraps around |
The label is optional and is stored in a group that can be suppressed.
I've been printing with 3 bottom, 4 top, 3 walls, 15% infill in PLA+ and haven't had any issues.
I ran the model through all of my mag geometries and found everything to be constrained properly, but let me know if you have any issues and I can correct the model.
I'm including a basic pmag model, but the intent really is to let others remix rather than have a million models here to improve searchability for specific brands/models.
