Monitor Stand for Portrait Mode

Sometimes I design for fun, sometimes for necessity. This is one of those necessity ones.

I wanted a vertical monitor but didn’t have a monitor that was capable and didn't really want to pay the price for a new monitor since I had one that worked just fine. So, I adapted a purely landscape monitor to be portrait style. I think its one of the best things for freeing up desk space, watching vertical format videos, and stacking programs vertically while multi-tasking on multi-screens. Heck I'm using it right now to multiscreen while typing this out!

The concept was based on some other 3D models I’ve done to hold my cell phone for photography (see the YouTube video linked below for an example). I basically just had to scale everything up by a HUGE factor and add some other design elements. Lot’s of 3D printed screws were used (I’m proud of that), but they are standard sizes (in the USA) and could always be purchased if there is any fear of plastic screws not being adequate. Please use your own judgment if this is a good solution to your monitor, I don't want to be responsible if anyone breaks anything expensive due to a ‘defective’ print.

In the photos for this model you will find the dimensions of my monitor, no doubt this could be adapted to various monitor sizes other than the size this model is for. If you make another size for a different monitor and upload it please reference the two (this one and your size) together somehow, I don't know how, but it just makes sense to make an easy to find library of monitor stands for everybody to use doesn't it?

There is a parts breakdown with quantities of everything in the photos as well. The names represent the files and if no quantities are mentioned it's just a Qty (1) part. Altogether this print job for me used about 927 grams of material (excluding the tree supports), so be prepared…

I used PLA for all parts, obviously feel free to use whatever material you want.
