Description
At lots of concerts people wave around colored pen lights. This is a modular system that allows your to use an off the shelf light to build a pen light of the color and length you desire.
Lights:
There are two different lights you can use: either a flashlight or a color changing LED cube.
Flashlight: Wurkkos FC11 (Amazon link)
Cube Light: ULANZI L2 RGB COB Video Light (Amazon link)
The flashlight is a really bright light (it is dimmable), but it's a single white color. Print the tubes in a translucent color of your choice. (I experimented with adding a gel filter, it just doesn't look good.)
The cube light is plenty bright for concerts, and will let you set whatever color you want (except, stupidly, white). They make some other light cubes that are the same dimensions, so you can use those as well. The holder is pressure fit, but there are some holes built into the front walls if you want to tie it down.
Of course, you can use the Fusion 360 file to make a mount for another light. Please share that if you do!
Parts:
Everything is designed to be printed at .16mm layer heights - The threading has sufficient tolerance that you shouldn't need a super finely detailed printer (Though as is true for all threads in all prints, smaller layer heights make screws smoother. But .16 works great.) For all parts, I suggest printing with the male thread facing up. The only part that needs supports is the Cube Light Mount.
The tube is designed to be very study, so you can screw together several tubes to create a light that's several feet long. (Create a light sabre!) There are varying lengths premade, but you can always go into the Fusion 360 file to edit the length to fit your needs. The “Tube Max Length” is just about the tallest length that will fit in a Bambu X1C / P1P or Prusa Mk3 / Mk4.
If you want a wrist strap, there is a small piece you can glue to the bottom of your mount.
