Description

The lead I'm working with is a flat webbing about 50 ft in length, 20mm wide and 1mm thick.  I was hoping this would hold the whole thing.  I may go back and elongate the design to keep more of the lead inside the guides.  I'm going to use this one some before I update the design to see what else might need improvement.  Check back for a possible version 2 of this design.

I also made this first print attempt with some settings I didn't intend.  The result shown was done in MatterHackers black build series ABS.  I had layer height set to 0.15mm when I normally use 0.2.  I also had my infill settings to 90% and would have typically used something closer to 40% for a print like this.

Supports were used in the handle area, but I blocked them from the hook points for the lead end as shown in some of the images from Cura slicer.  The print took a little over 13 hours, but with my normal settings it shows it would have taken closer to 9 hours.  All in all this design came out great, but its going to work better for a lead that's closer to 20 ft in length.

The lead handle slides through two possible slots in the center of the handle so you have the ability to grip the handle from inside the spool and easily remove it as well.  I did this because we often let our dog run free with the lead dragging behind and I didn't want him dragging this spool behind him.  There are multiple spots for clipping the lead end onto the spool for storage and you can pretty easily pull on the lead to tighten around the spool and get to a good clipping spot that keeps everything organized when not in use.

Please leave a like and a make if you decide to use this design for yourself!
