Description
HEPA (+ activated carbon) adapter for the Qidi X-Max 3, uses a Levoit LV-H128 replacement filter.
(Yes, the carbon is not pellet based, just an activated carbon impregnated sponge but I mainly print with PLA. And have a 550 CADR standalone purifier)
Disclaimer / tips:
- The additional sliding cover is just for OCD, to eliminate any unfiltered leakage around the filter, which has a foam padded edge. The ensclosure is tapered, the foam is compressed when insterted so the cover is unlikely to be necessary.
- Since the photos I adjusted the dimensions so no additional gapping tape should be necessary around the sliding cover
- You will likely need bent nose pliers for holding the nuts while installing the bolts.
- Lower right nut installation is tricky, use double sided tape to hold onto it while installing the bolt.
- The design only has clearance for bolts with small heads (max 8-9mm diameter I think) so I recommend M4 X 30mm Allen Socket Bolts as pictured.
- Probably fits the X-Plus 3 as well, or anything that also uses a 80x80 fan but bed clearance is not guaranteed on other models.
- Later I've taped up the unused vent holes around the fan on the back plate, that design looks like an afterthought anyway - this way no unfiltered air can escape at the sides.
- It's mounted on the inside to accommodate those who don't have much space behind the printer (and a “pull” config works better anyway) but make sure there's enough clearance at the back to maintain good airflow & efficiency.
- After installation and taping up the vents around the fan it still maintains a 15.4 Km/h airflow which is probably at least on par with the original pellet bag. I never measued the original speed but without any filter it was 18.5 Km/h
