Description
A simple base adapter for older Warhammer The Old World, designed to have just enough clearance for models whether you want to glue them in or leave them swappable, this design uses 3mmx1.5mm magnets to keep your soldiers in ranks.
This design was created at the request of a coworker to update his old Old World army to fit the new standard from the recent change, rather than rebaseing his whole army these adapters will fit on old units and can be primed (lightly) and painted to match or accent existing units.
There is no no-magnet version of this base as I started making the 20to25mm version first and my coworker liked the 2nd design of it where I used magnets so that became the standard
The bases are 4mm tall with a 1mm thick base, and an internal clearance size of 25.3mm x 50.3mm.
The magnetic bases use 3mm x 1.5mm magnets and there is a small triangle added to aid in matching the polarity of the magnets.
I suggest gluing magnets into one of the 20to25mm bases first and using that piece as a tool to insert magnets in all the others. Start by taking two magnets and separating them using an exacto knife or blade to maintain their polarity and then pressing the into the base with a small dot of superglue. Ensure that the holes are clear before inserting the magnets and that they sit flush or below the surface of the wall.
It will take quite awhile to glue enough bases together to support a whole army but the end result is very satisfying. Snapping your units together in ranks or formations in seconds is quite easy and fun.
It took me roughly 2 hours to glue all the magnets in x60 20to25mm bases and x20 25x50 to 30x60mm bases.
This model was made with resin printing in mind and I have not tested it using filament.
I've also included presupported models for resin printing which make it easy to fill your bed.
