Description
After loosing the original Motor cover on my second ride, I designed this alternative cover instead. It opens in the opposite direction as stock (so in the correct one now), so that it self-closes (or at least wont get ripped out) in case it somehow opens on the trail.
This cover is made up of two parts. The mounting bracket replaces the original mount where the rubber strap is held. You can reuse the screws, but the lower one may need to get shortened a little bit in order to not collide with the battery. While this bracket seems to work surprisingly well even when printed in PLA (and for a first fitment test), I strongly suggest getting it made in Alumninum instead. For this purpose the .step file is also uploaded. I got it milled out of 7075 alloy@ jlcpcb for approx 15€ including shipping & taxes.
The main cover itself gets screwed to the mounting bracket with an DIN912/ISO4762 M3x40mm bolt. When closing the cover, it clips onto the pivot bolt of the original cover with a firm press. To release it, just use any small (tire) lever or similar at the gap at the rear of the cover.
It's possible that this could fit on the 2023 JAM² as well, but I'm not sure.
Have fun!
