Description
JOY with a Heart
This JOY is for someone special in your life. It's a heart full of JOY and it's magnetic. Place it where it can be seen to remind them of the JOY they give you. Perfect for a refrigerator or other metal object as a daily reminder to think about JOY. Or, as I like to do, On Valentines Day I leave them in public places for strangers to find. Elevators, light posts, ferry boats, driver car doors in store parking lots. A reminder to think about JOY.
I've included two versions of this model. With a space for a 8mm x 3mm magnet and without. Two color versions for those with multi-color printers and a single color versions that if you add a pause after the heart is complete at 6mm, you can manually change filament to another color.
Print instructions
A small model designed to he handled is all about touch. There are delicate filets to smooth the heart edges. .2mm height works but I suggest .15mm height. If your printer is tuned and up to it, consider ironing the top surfaces for a nice final finish. This works particularly well with matte filaments.
Filament. For JOY with a Heart, I used Polymaker PLA Wine Red (a deep red that's slightly matte) and Overture PLA white.
The JOY Project
Printables has assembled an incredible collection of great things to make with your 3D printer. Some useful, some fun, some for play. But, what if the 3D printmakers could create something to help the people around us to feel better? Create and hand out small reminders of JOYs for family, friends and strangers. The original JOY is here on Printables. In 5 years I've passed out over 10,000 to friends and strangers.

Joy is a Community Project
The idea of the Joy Project is for makers to print copies of the word Joy and hand them out to as many people as you can. The small size of Joy is designed to be soft and sit comfortably in your hand and serve as encouragement. Toss Joy in your pocket or purse along with your keys and it's there when you need it.
Share JOY
I’ve been making Joys in mass quantities to share with friends, family, and strangers that I meet. I hand them out to checkers at stores and include them along with tips at restaurants and espresso stands. No matter who you meet, giving a little Joy is a great way to improve their day.
When you place Joy on someone’s hand, their face immediately lights up. I suggest that they keep it in their pocket as a reminder that there’s always Joy in their lives and remember that it's there whenever they need it. Then, I hand them a few more to share with people they know and meet that could use a little Joy in their own lives.
