This model is a replacement probe mount for the SV06 and SV06 Plus. It comes in 2 parts with an optional third part (cover plate). This probe mount is perfect if you have multiple extruders and want to adjust probe height super precisely (0.1mm precision) so that bed levelling after swapping in a different extruder is not longer needed. Or if you are modding your nozzle and need to set the probe at a different height to accommodate the new nozzle.
Note: The Sovol standard probe height is 2mm from the bed when the nozzle is touching the bed. Unless you know what you're doing (for example when installing different types of nozzles), don't increase this height, or the nozzle will crash into the bed when doing a z calibration.
Print instructions
- Material: I used PLA (but PETG could also work)
- Layer height: 0.3mm (or 0.2mm for cover plate for better finish)
- Infill: 20%
- Perimeters: 2 or 3
- Support: For the probe holder only. If slanted holder is printer, you might get away with just a brim. I have not tried this.
- Print orientation: Print as oriented in stl
Materials needed
- 2x M3x8 bolt (they come from the stock probe mount on the Sovol)
- 1x M3x8 bolt or longer (needed to secure holder to mount)
- 1x M3 nut (needed to secure holder to mount)
- 1x M2x6 or longer (needed to secure probe in holder)
- If using the cover plate: 2x M2x6
Assembly
- Push probe in holder, it should slide all the way down and then then hit the bottom holder rim. Screw the M2 bolt into the holder and secure probe. Only the blue part of the probe should protrude from the bottom of the holder.
- Take M3 nut and lay it flat in the long probe mount slot. It should fit precisely. Take M3 bolt and screw it in from the back of the mount. The bolt thread should not go all the way through the nut, just be flush with the nut (see photo).
- Screw probe mount onto extruder (similar to how the original was mounted on the extruder).
- Slide holder into mount and secure M3 bolt into hole in back of probe holder. The holder can now be slid up and down and secured by tightening the M3 bolt.
- If you're using the cover plate, screw it on using the two M2x6 bolts.
