LK FUGA to IKEA TRADFRI adapter

I wanted to upgrade the apartment by replacing all normal wall switches with zigbee ones.
But pleacing the new switch next to the normal one, meant that everyone kept switching off the wrong one, ruining the attempt to make the lights smart.

I decided to make an adapter that would fit into the Danish LK FUGA wall switch frames, allowing me to mount the IKEA TRÅDFRI Zigbee switches onto the exising frame. This both looks much nicer, but also ensures that noone accidentally turn off the main switch.

This has worked extremely well for several years now, so thought I would share the design.

I found that newer or older LK FUGA frames will have a slightly different fit, so I suggest you print one and play around to maybe scale by a percent or two. Alternatively you can ensure a snug fit by wedging someting in at the bottom tap.

Simply unscrew the back cover of the TRÅDFRI switch, and replace the standard back cover with the new 3D-printed one. It will now fit into an LK FUGA frame, and there is still access to the reset button.

Make sure to be gentle when removing the original switch cover, as they easily damage. A small screwdriver from the side will do the trick, and they can be remounted anytime.

Perfect if you are renting, or just dont want to mess with wiring.
