Description
This was an exercise in making a mass-producible bowl! Since it's only two layers thick the bowl remains flexible despite being made of PLA. (This is the only properly-springy PLA print I've made!)Â
I used these bowls as part of the packaging for chocolates that I gave away. A low-cost, fast, and flexible print perfect for little gifts! (although the main goal is to prevent a bag of chocolates from looking like a bag of poop…)
The doilies can be printed quickly and then heat molded with the mold provided. I used a hair dryer to soften the PLA until it almost felt like fabric, and then placed it on the inner mold (upside down). Then I pressed the outer mold over it, and in a few seconds the bowl sets into shape!
The doily itself could be printed larger to be used as a placemat if your printer has the size for it. I might use this model to make dinner-table placemats for next Valentine's Day <3
Doilies are printed in two layers at a 0.2mm layer height. Doilies shown are printed in Polymaker PolyTerra matte PLA.

Happy printing! But do be safe and do your research before printing for contact with food.
