Description

Overview:
This is a tomato plant support system, utilizing 3D-printed connectors for easy assembly, adjustment and storage.

Materials and Assembly:

  • Connectors: Printed on a Prusa MK3s+ using a 0.4mm nozzle, with a layer height of 0.2mm and automatic organic supports for ease of post-processing.
  • Hardware: M3 screws and nuts, with button-type screws featuring a socket head.
  • Fiberglass Rods: Two sizes, 5/16" for vertical posts, ¼" for the horizontal ones.
  • Tools: Use of 6.5mm and 8mm reamers post-printing ensures holes are perfectly sized for the rods.

Instructions:

  1. Print the connectors with organic supports for easier post-processing.
  2. Remove supports and adjust holes with reamers for a perfect fit on the fiberglass rods.
  3. Assemble by sliding connectors onto rods and securing with M3 hardware, adjusting as needed for plant growth. Use the screws when needed.

Benefits:
Enjoy a system that’s not only durable and weatherproof, but also adjustable to accommodate your plants' growth.

Initially considered for the “Connected Rods” project, I chose to develop this tomato plant support as its own project for simplicity and easier access.
