Description

A printable CMMG compatible, 22lr, AR15 mag with an 8 round capacity. What's the catch? It uses the springs from two Pez dispensers! There are certainly other options but, if you're having trouble locating a spring…..

The geometry based off the Everyt*wn mag

You'll need a few non printed parts….

  • 2 Pez springs
  • 4 button top M3 screws
  • 4 M3 nuts

For the printed parts….

Use PLA+ or better.

Layer height: 0.2  (0.16 is even better if you're not in a hurry.)

Walls: 6

Print parts oriented as they appear on the build plate with organic supports off the bed only. Print the mag sides at 45% or higher infill. A higher percentage won't use much more material. Some have printed this part flat with the inside down. This increases the chance of warpage and greatly increases post printing clean up so I do not recommend it.

Print the small parts at 100%.

Post print clean up is important. Pay special attention to the follower. Make sure there is no elephant foot on the flat surface. This surface rides against the mag internal passage. It can get caught on messy layer lines or stringing. Sand smooth as needed.

Bolt left and right halves together. Do not over torque. Do not use screws that are too long or they will hit the mag well. Examine the assembled halves for warpage. If the halves are found to be warped reprint them.

Combine the springs. Put them side by side, orient them the same, then slide them together.

Insert the follower on the top of the spring. The crossed peg faces the bottom of the mag. Push the base lock into the spring Long side faces up.

Push the spring assembly into the mag.

Slide the base plate into the slot. Use a small screwdriver to help compress the spring until the base plate is in place.

If necessary is a small awl to get the peg on the lock seated into the hole in the baseplate.

The mag is now assembled and ready for use. Insert your magazine into your firearm. If
the mag doesn't lock in place, check the catch hole for excess support material. Clean out if needed.

If your printer is calibrated the mag should slide in smoothly and drop out when released. If it binds check for warpage. Load the magazine to a maximum of 8 rounds. Check for binding while you are doing this. If it binds stop. Disassemble the halves and clean the channel or the follower as needed. If printing errors can not be cleaned, reprint the follower or sides as needed.

At this point you ready to pop a few off down range! Have fun!

Note: Leaving the magazine loaded when stored can cause the lips to deform and cause feeding issues. All printed mags should be stored empty. If printed from PLA+ the sun is not your friend. When not in use keep them in your range bag or other shaded location.
