Description
My goal with the remix was to integrate the mod into the printer so it could easily be turned on to use and have it be unobtrusive when not in use. The camera kit comes with 2 LEDs which are 3-wire digitally controlled. I deleted these and replaced with a 2 wire LED to reduce the wiring. The camera LEDs are powered through a switch on top of the Loveboard cover and all of the wiring is hidden under the modified side cover and routed out through the back of the x-carriage with the rest of the x-carriage wiring.
All parts were printed in Prusament Matte Black PETG except for the Camera Mount which is Prusa PC-Blend.
The only parts that require supports are the Loveboard Cover and the Camera Mount. On the Loveboard Cover I used auto supports and set 'Top Z distance" to 0.3 and “XY separation between an object and its support” to 150%. For the Camera Mount I painted on support with the same setting changes.
The threaded insert goes in the mount for the 3DO board. The 3DO board is mounted to the empty hole in the top right corner of the Loveboard. The insulated spacers prevent damage or shorting of the traces on the boards. The switch board has a small piece of Kapton tape to insulate between the two boards. The switch is attached with M2 BHCS and M2 nuts.
Wiring between the boards and the camera mount is routed out the right side of the Loveboard Cover and underneath the side cover.
The M3 SHCS threads into the right side cover at the bottom to act as a locating pin with the fan.
Note: When removing the Loveboard Cover the extruder idlers can be unlatched to improve the clearance.
For the LED power I connected to the “Power In” terminals on the Buddy Board and added in a 24v to 5vdc Buck converter and fuse. The wires were run inside the textile sleeve through the cable support on the back of the carriage with the other wiring.
The Camera USB cable (1.5M) was stripped of the outer jacket on the camera board end (approx. 8 inches/200mm) to allow it to fit inside the cable support on the back of the X-carriage. The ground conductor inside the cable is uninsulated but can be insulated with shrink tubing if you remove the pin from the small connector end and reinsert it after insulation. At the point the wires come out of the cable support I brought the insulated portion outside the sleeve and tie wrapped it to the sleeving.
