Description
This clamp was designed for easy mounting of ASIAir onto a vixen dovetail clamp. You need to install a threaded insert onto the moving jaw for smooth movement (I used the ones from CNC Kitchen) and provide a ¼ - 20 long thumbscrew for opening and closing of the jaw. The nut is hard to screw onto the screw and I had to resort to pliers to hold in place while I screwed it on. However, this is a good thing as it means the screw will remain captive and not come undone. Do not leave more stick out than needed for the screw to open the jaw completely, as excessive length of screw will result in damage to the moving jaw if forced open too far and the screw collides with the end of the jaw.
I printed these from ASA with 18% cubic infill and 6 top layers. The ASA really liked to pillow so I had to resort to many top layers.
Update: Using glue to lock the locking nut in place is a good idea, furthermore, if you can just source an m20 nut and use it rather than the 3d printed one, you will save your self a slight headache.
Again, this clamp was originally designed for sale at our shop, but we are giving away the STL files for free. If you want to buy a ready made one, you can get it from here StellarPrint Vixen Style Dovetail Clamp for ASI Air (astronomicalsolutions.com)
