Description
I installed a Warn VR Evo 10s winch on my Jeep and wanted to protect the fairlead that came with it from rock chips that could cut or abrade the synthetic winch line. The plug only version has a tight interference fit and the ribs should prevent it from warping over time. The license plate holding version features mounting tabs for the plate and a threaded lock tab that accepts a printed thumbscrew for additional peace of mind that it won't fly off on the highway. I'm satisfied that even without the locking screw, it will hold up to highway speeds since the aero forces are helping to keep it in place. It's been designed for the Warn synthetic hawse fairlead that comes with the Evo 10s but may fit similar Warn fairleads with a minimum (rear of fairlead) opening size of 184mm x 24mm.
Update: If you print the license plate holder version in the modeled orientation, the locktab prints against the grain and is weak. I added a doubler that allows you to reinforce that area with a strong (with the grain) part. Slide it under the lock tab and secure with super glue.
