Description
I wanted a bit better fan on my Di3, but i didn't have any 51x51x15mm blower fans at home. But i did have a 25mm thick one, so i made this holder and duct to improve my performance.
Bridge test used: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12925/#made
Printer:
Wanhao Duplicator i3
Rafts:
Doesn't Matter
No
Infill:
0% on duct, 20ish% on holder
Notes:
The shell on the duct i set to 1mm and and that gets weird on the curved bits, set to 0% or you might see som eratic behaviour from your printer trying to infill the tiny space.
Screw on the fan to the mount with a long M4 screw, nuts and washers, the holder is a bit loose, you should be able to fit one washer on between the inside of the holder and the fan.
Attach the holder to the fan mount on the head with M3 screws, nuts and washers. The mount can slide sideways.
Flip the fan up and attach the duct, it should sit firm just by friction, if not use glue, tape or whatever.
If you have kapton in 5-10mm width you can wrap the hot end a few turns to increase the insulation.
Flip down the fan and make sure its not to low and might interfere with your print and everything seems reasonably firm.
