Description
This model has its inspiration taken from Ryan Millar's Shelf and KiloxTango's Shelf (though KT draws his inspiration from RM as well). They are both fantastic models, but they danced around what the people (me) truly wanted: infill accent plates on the front and sides. Additionally, the proportions and method of wall mounting were not quite a fit for what I needed. So, here's another half hexagon display shelf with accent plates.
There is a rail that mounts to the wall using command strips, then the shelf body slides across until is is centered, resulting in a nearly invisible mount.
To achieve the See-Through Infill Pattern look, simply set the number of top and bottom solid layers to 0 in your slicer's settings.
Infill patterns used in pictures are Hexagon, Gyroid, and Archimedean Chord in Prusaslicer.
When printing the side plates, make sure one is flipped over. Some infill patterns have slightly different looks on their top and bottom layers. Printing the plates in the same orientation may give visually asymmetric results once they are mounted in the shelf. An example of this can be seen in the pictures.
To help enforce this idea, all models print as downloaded, except for the side plate, which you actively need to lay down on a face before slicing
