The top rack plastic wheel pegs recently started snapping off on our Maytag dishwasher. This is a small part to fix this issue. Make sure to follow the printing instructions!
Printing Instructions
- The easiest solution is to use the provided 3mf which is pre-configured with the appropriate modifiers, etc.
- Print using a dishwasher-safe filament (for temperature resistance and food safety). I used Carbon Fiber PC CPE by filaments.ca
- Print the peg on its side (with supports) else the peg will probably snap during use due to high temps, the weight of the top rack and layer direction.
- Ideally use 100% infill for the part that the wheel (and weight) rests on.
Installation Instructions
- Hack away the remains of the old wheel peg from the rack so as to leave a tight-is hole for the new peg to press-fit into. I used a Dremel and pliers for this job. Remove the middle part completely save for ~2mm of the inside "walls" for the pin to fit onto. See pics.
- Push the part in. It should be a tight fit (it shouldn't budge afterwards).
Remixing Instructions
If for some reason the wheel peg does not fit on your dishwasher, you can tweak it using the provided Fusion 360 source file.
