Apple Macintosh LC series 40mm fan adapter

This is a 40mm fan adapter for the Apple Macintosh LC series of machines and machines that share the same chassis. Such LC, LCII, LCIII, Performa 475, LC 475, Quadra 605 and probably a couple others.

The stock fan is a 60mm x 15mm thick 12V fan. Most of the quiet 60mm fans are 25mm thick which won't fit in the LC chassis fan clips. And the 15mm thick ones are kinda noisy, so I designed this adapter plate to allow the popular 40mm fans such as the Noctua series to be used. You can use either the 10mm thick or 20mm thick ones.

The 20mm fan has slightly more airflow.

If you have a hot running setup (hot scsi drive or cpu accelerator card), you may want to stick with a 60mm fan as the 40mm ones do move less air.

One thing to note: Regardless of what fan you use, you will need to either make a fan power adapter or repin the stock fan and swap it's red and black wires. The stock Apple 60mm fan has its positive and negative wires reversed from regular PC fans. If you plug in a regular fan it won't spin without making this change or building an adapter.
