Description

This is a strain relief boot designed to fit the audio jack on Sony MDR-V6 headphones (probably others as well).

Because the cable used on these headphones is high quality, it does not have the strength itself and requires a cable strain relief. The stock strain relief is very poor with these headphones, it looks like a bit of heat shrink or something like that, so this was designed to help with that.

It is designed to be printed in flexible filament (TPU), and it can be a bit difficult to install. It has a half spiral cut which is intentional and may need to be opened up if it is merged after printing. To install it, open up the spiral part and slip the boot over the jack, carefully pushing the jack all the way into the boot so the end is flush with the end of the metal housing. Then work the spiral part around the remaining jack and then the cable till it is in the final position. This is not designed to be a super tight fit, but it is snug. If you find your prints are too small or too loose, please check/calibrate the flow for the filament you are using.

Notes:

Priline TPU (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074DV9JMX/) is what I used for this, since it is what I have. It is a less flexible TPU and works well, but this should also work fine with slightly more flexible TPU.
